Meeting European requirements for data protection and sovereignty
Ettlingen, 06/27/2023 – The European Union's GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliance climbs a new hurdle. Oracle enables more control over data privacy and sovereignty for private and public sector companies in the EU with the EU Sovereign Cloud. In the course of this, PROMATIS – Oracle Partner and specialist for intelligent business processes and Oracle digitization solutions – will further accelerate the digital transformation for customers from critical industries such as healthcare, financial services, telecommunications and public sector institutions..
The rapid technological developments over the last two decades have created new challenges in the area of personal data protection. For example, five years ago, on May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. It strengthens data protection as a whole, grants individuals additional and stronger rights, increases transparency and ensures accountability of those who process personal data. As a result, the EU has the strictest data protection regulations in the world.
Now, one of the first cloud solutions designed specifically for this EU legislation has been developed and is located entirely in the EU. The support is the responsibility of staff based exclusively in the EU and the operation is carried out by separate legal entities registered in the EU. Accordingly, the EU Sovereign Cloud – as part of Oracle's distributed cloud strategy – offers a real alternative for meeting regulatory requirements and optimally rounds off both hybrid and dedicated cloud strategies.
