EU Sovereign Cloud: Another milestone in the digital transformation of highly regulated industries

Meeting European requirements for data protection and sovereignty

Ettlingen, 06/27/2023The European Union's GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliance climbs a new hurdle. Oracle enables more control over data privacy and sovereignty for private and public sector companies in the EU with the EU Sovereign Cloud. In the course of this, PROMATIS – Oracle Partner and specialist for intelligent business processes and Oracle digitization solutions – will further accelerate the digital transformation for customers from critical industries such as healthcare, financial services, telecommunications and public sector institutions..

The rapid technological developments over the last two decades have created new challenges in the area of personal data protection. For example, five years ago, on May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. It strengthens data protection as a whole, grants individuals additional and stronger rights, increases transparency and ensures accountability of those who process personal data. As a result, the EU has the strictest data protection regulations in the world.

Now, one of the first cloud solutions designed specifically for this EU legislation has been developed and is located entirely in the EU. The support is the responsibility of staff based exclusively in the EU and the operation is carried out by separate legal entities registered in the EU. Accordingly, the EU Sovereign Cloud – as part of Oracle's distributed cloud strategy – offers a real alternative for meeting regulatory requirements and optimally rounds off both hybrid and dedicated cloud strategies.

"The new Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud now closes a gap, as it particularly meets the concerns that companies in highly regulated industries had to deal with. Especially our customers, with sensitive or strategically important data and applications, now have the possibility – compliant with the requirements of the GDPR – to move to the cloud", says Rainer Mann, COO of PROMATIS Group.

"At PROMATIS, we have been dealing intensively with the data protection issue for a long time as part of our internal processes. But as a leading technology and innovation leader for the profitable optimization and automation of business processes, we naturally also support companies in implementing and complying with the Europe-wide GDPR guidelines. The addition of Oracle's EU Sovereign Cloud creates another milestone in the digital transformation with regard to GDPR compliance," adds Michael Pergande, Data Protection Officer at PROMATIS.
